Harvest Hoedown

About Us

  • Opened in 2005, RAFP is a non-denominational, tax exempt 501c 3 non-profit organization. For nine years we were located within the Nativity of Our Lord Thrift Shop at 436 N. Brown St. In 2014 we were able to purchase, modify, and move to the former Golden Harvest Market at 627 Coon St. We are one block south of Lincoln St. next to The Little Red Carwash.

  • The RAFP relies almost exclusively on volunteers. The Pantry manager is part-time and is the only paid employee. Last year over 400 volunteers donated time and energy toward the success of the pantry.

  • Currently RAFP is able to assist each needy family every 14 days with four to six days supply of food. This is an average of about 79 pounds of food per visit.

  • We serve an average of 400-450 households per month.

  • Last year we served almost 1,000 households at least one time.

  • RAFP expenses exceed $12,000 per month (About $21 per household visit)

  • RAFP uses government commodity food programs and Feeding America, the nation's largest food bank. This enables RAFP to stretch donation dollars to almost three times the value. RAFP also supplements with local food purchases, local food donations and produce grown in the Rhinelander Area Community Garden.

  • RAFP partners with the School District of Rhinelander to provide weekly backpacks filled with food to help families assure there is enough food for children over the weekends when school meals are not available. Currently more than 200 children are receiving backpacks on weekends during the school year.

  • We will also provide an emergency food bag at almost any time it is needed.

  • RAFP provides home delivery to house-bound customers who have no one to pick up food for them.

  • We also provide a separate monthly shopping time for senior citizens.
